AMLA sign-up closes Sunday as ESMA, Fed and Basel set clocks running into 2027

A forward-looking map of the deadlines that actually bite in the coming days and weeks. The imminent item is AMLA's Frankfurt roundtable sign-up, due this Sunday. Further out, ESMA, the Fed, Basel and the SRB all started clocks this week, and several of the earliest-biting obligations carry the least public attention. Here is the sequence worth calendaring.

  • AMLA expressions of interest for its simplified-CDD Frankfurt roundtables are due 18 October 2026 at 23h59 CEST, an input stage with no draft to react to.
  • ESMA fixed 7 December 2026 as the first binding date for electronic, standardised allocation and confirmation messaging, roughly ten months before T+1 settlement arrives on 11 October 2027.
  • The Fed's two Genius Act stablecoin rulemakings carry a 30 November comment deadline; ABA, BPI, CBA and ICBA have asked to move it to 29 January.
  • Basel's consultation on treating European Banking Union cross-border exposures closes 14 January 2027, while its EUR 350 billion G-SIB reporting threshold applies from 2027.
  • The SRB discontinued its quarterly MREL eligibility sign-off form with immediate effect and moves bank-specific resolvability reporting to a three-year cycle from 2027.

ESMA's 7 December T+1 deadline leads a week of prudential reporting resets

Five things a compliance officer has to act on this week, ranked. ESMA closed its T+1 rulebook with a deadline that bites far sooner than the headline date; Basel and the SRB reset reporting obligations into 2027 and beyond; US banking groups asked the Fed for more time on stablecoin rules; AMLA's simplified-CDD window shut on Sunday; and a Puerto Rico bank chairman was jailed. Plus the AI-concentration theme two regulators raised the same week.

  • ESMA confirmed EU T+1 settlement from 11 October 2027 but set 7 December 2026 as the first binding deadline for electronic allocation and confirmation messaging.
  • Basel raised its G-SIB reporting threshold from EUR 200 billion to EUR 350 billion from 2027 and moves stock indicators to annual averages by 1 January 2030.
  • The SRB discontinued its quarterly MREL eligibility sign-off form with immediate effect and shifts bank-specific resolvability reporting to a three-year cycle from 2027.
  • AMLA's expression-of-interest deadline for Frankfurt simplified-CDD roundtables closed 18 October 2026, an input stage before any draft guidelines exist.
  • Juan Francisco Ramirez was sentenced on 7 October 2026 to 62 months and forfeiture of roughly $13.6 million over losses of at least $23,613,371 at Nodus International Bank.
