The DOJ has brought an Israeli defendant to the Northern District of California to answer a 2023 indictment over the exploitation of the Nomad Bridge smart contract. - The estimated value of the stolen virtual currency was approximately $2,894,390 at the time of the transactions.
- He faces up to 10 years and a $250,000 fine for causing damage to a protected computer and for interstate transportation of stolen money, and up to 20 years and a $250,000 fine for money laundering.
- He was arrested in Israel in May 2025 and recently extradited to the United States, with the DOJ's Office of International Affairs and Israeli authorities providing substantial assistance.
- The FBI is investigating the case, prosecuted by Trial Attorneys Jessica Peck and Ethan Cantor of the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section.
