Treasury seeks comment on AI-assisted Fraud.gov tip intake form
Treasury has published a Paperwork Reduction Act notice renewing the information collection behind Fraud.gov, a government-wide tip intake and referral portal. The notice discloses that an AI tool drafts initial field entries and routing suggestions from public submissions, a detail compliance and government affairs teams tracking federal fraud referral channels will want to note.
- Comments on the collection are due by December 21, 2026, sent to the Treasury PRA Clearance Officer or PRA@treasury.gov.
- Treasury estimates 80,000 respondents annually, each submitting once, for an estimated total annual burden of 40,000 hours.
- An artificial intelligence tool processes initial tip entries, populates standardized fields and generates routing recommendations before human review.
- The collection supports Executive Order 14249, 'Protecting America's Bank Account Against Fraud, Waste, and Abuse,' and Executive Order 14395 establishing the Task Force to Eliminate Fraud.
- This is an extension without change of a currently approved collection under OMB Control Number 1505-0284.
